Alert Medical Training Inc

Belinda J. Starkey
EMT Scholarship

Belinda was born in Madera, California. She grew up in Kerman for her first 20 years until she met her husband Jerry while attending Fresno City College. They resided for a short time in Fresno while still attending college, moving back to Kerman for a few years before moving to Tollhouse in 1981.
When she moved to Tollhouse she managed her home and rose up her two boys, Jeremiah and Jonathan, until they started school. At that time she took a position as a teacher’s aide at Sierra Elementary.  She also served as a Paid Call Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician covering the medical response unit most week days as well as fighting local wildland fires. As her sons grew and were leaving Sierra Elementary she took a position as a CPR instructor at American Ambulance.
Belinda spent the majority of her working career as a first aid/CPR instructor.
In doing so, she taught thousands of people how to be prepared to save lives. She used this passion to start Alert Medical Training in 2003 which she owned and managed until November of 2017.
Belinda Joyce Starkey went home to the Lord on the 27th of February 2018 after a battle with liver cancer.

In honor of our founder, Belinda Starkey, Alert Medial Training Inc will grant at least one student from each EMT course an end of course scholarship package that includes payment of the NREMT Cognitive Testing Fee (approximate value $80) and $120.

To qualify the student have at least an 85% in the course as of the Final Skills Testing date, pass the in-class written exam on the first attempt, and complete the scholarship application by the date of the written exam.

We hope this opportunity helps students with the education to work transition.  Students interested in applying should inquire in the business office.
